In Deutschland ist dies das Deutsche Institut für Normung (DIN), das Deutsche Industrie Normen - wie z.B. DIN A 4 herausbringt. DIN-Standards sind nummeriert und beginnen mit DIN.
In Großbritannien ist dies das BSI (Britisch Standards Institution). Diese Organisationen sind gleichzeitig Mitglieder der ISO und bringen dort nationale Standards zur Internationalisierung ein. Neben den länderspezifischen Organisationen gibt es auch Standardisierungen für Europa, z.B. CEPT oder ETSI. Europäische Standards sind nummeriert und beginnen mit EN.
