cum tempore
lateinisch für "cum tempore" und bedeutet wörtlich "mit Zeit". Gemeint ist, dass bei einer Einladung noch 15 Minuten Zeit bis zum Beginn der Veranstaltung bleibt. An Universitäten wird statt "c. t." auch manchmal die Bezeichnung "akademisches Viertel" verwendet. Ursprünglich diente die erste Viertelstunde der Vorlesung dazu, den Stoff der letzten Stunde zu wiederholen. Wer darauf verzichten wollte, durfte 15 Minuten später eintreffen. Heute bedeutet "9 Uhr c. t.", dass alle Studierenden um 9:15 Uhr ihre Plätze eingenommen haben sollten und die Vorlesung auch erst dann beginnt. Bei "s.t". (sine tempore) ist genaue Pünktlichkeit angesagt!

At universities, the term "academic quarter" is sometimes used instead of "c. t.". Originally, the first quarter of an hour of the lecture served to repeat the material from the last hour. Those who wanted to do without it were allowed to arrive 15 minutes later. Today, "9 a.m. c. t." means that all students should have taken their seats at 9:15 a.m. and the lecture should not begin until then. At "s.t.". (sine tempore) exact punctuality is the order of the day!
