Chat-Jargon - oh, my God
Chat-Jargon - oh, my God
An abbreviation that is commonly used in German-language net jargon and is understood by practically everyone in chats, instant messengers, discussion forums and the like. All abbreviations can vary in spelling (especially upper and lower case). Some of them also appear enclosed in asterisks, such as "*gg*" or "*lol*". Many of the acronyms and abbreviations are also taken from English.
The term emoticon is a cross between words, formed by emotion and icon. In most cases, emoticons represent faces rotated by 90°, which were created from the basic smiley. (If you can't see the face at first sight, it sometimes helps to turn the monitor to the side) ;-)
